Hanuman - The Hindu God (or Hunooman acording to my matchbox label)

Hanuman

Hanuman - is a Hindu deity, who was an ardent devotee of Rama according to the Hindu legends. He is a central character in the Indian epic Ramayana and its various versions. He also finds mentions in several other texts, including Mahabharata, the various Puranas and some Jain texts. A vanara (monkey-like humanoid), Hanuman participated in Rama's war against the demon king Ravana. According to Jain texts, Hanuman is a human of vanara clan whose emblem is the monkey. Several texts also present him as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He is the son of Vayu, who according to several stories, played a role in his birth.

The race after the amazing label!

Do you remember this old post of mine - http://arnon-reisman.blogspot.co.il/2012/01/beautifull-gallery-representing-art-of.html  with this Japanese label of the Indian man who sits on the tree and 8 girls standing in the lake (it's realy interesting to know what is the story behind the picture and who is this man)?

So, I promised my self that one day I will get this beautiful label.

Lately I found a nice version of it -

But it was not the same one, that I liked so much.

So, some days ago I visited my friend Hilik, and swapped some labels with him... Suddenly I saw it in his album waiting for me! and he had one spare... and the end is known...

Is this label a beautiful one? I am sure you agree with me.

Old Swedish labels with Indian motifs

Wajang
Wayang is a Javanese word for particular kinds of theatre (literally "theatre" or sometimes "puppet"). When the term is used to refer to kinds of puppet theatre, sometimes the puppet itself is referred to as wayang. Performances of shadow puppet theatre are accompanied by gamelan in Java, and by gender wayang in Bali.

Old labels are my favourit interest lately

My favorite interest is oriental labels or those with oriental motives. I also like those with African and Arabic motives. Most of the labels which are shown heredown were made in Austria and Czechoslovakia on the early 1900's for export to India or Africa.

Austrian labels from 1900's to 1920's

Czechoslovakian made

The following labels were made in India but the strong Swedish influence can clearly be seen on them.

Very nice Indian production
