Shunga
Shunga is a Japanese term for erotic art. Most shunga are a
type of ukiyo-e, usually executed in woodblock print format. While rare, there
are extant erotic painted handscrolls which predate the Ukiyo-e movement.
Translated literally, the Japanese word shunga means picture of spring;

Ukiyo-e (浮世絵 literally "pictures of the floating world")

is a genre of Japanese woodblock prints (or woodcuts) and paintings produced
between the 17th and the 20th centuries, featuring motifs of landscapes, tales
from history, the theatre, and pleasure quarters. It is the main artistic genre
