Hiroshige designed his lovely Eight Views of Omi Province series around 1834. Published by Hoeido and Heikichi (Eikyudo), the series depicts views of the famous Lake Biwa in Omi Province during different seasons and weather conditions. A related poem appears in the title cartouche in the upper corner of each print.
